Everything you do on Ethereum is public and might be used against you. Unlike the web, blockchain data doesn’t get lost or deleted.
Read on for simple but powerful #privacy tips for #Ethereum and #DeFi
Ethereum works BUT everything about it is open:
- your ETH & token balances
- your token/NFT trades
- addresses you interact with
- exchange deposits/withdrawals
… are all public. But the good news is that there are fairly easy ways to maintain your privacy.
🔹 Keep in mind that when you send someone a transaction or show some NFT you own, that person can see everything about your address, incl. it's past/recent activity.
🔹 Thus, keep separate accounts for various purposes and do not “link” them to each other by sending transactions between them.
If you need to top up your separate Ethereum accounts use your cryptocurrency exchange account i.e. Binance or Coinbase.
🔹 If you’re looking for privacy from government or affiliated entities then do not use exchange based (or that has a presence in) your country.
🔹 Do not use your primary account should you want to play around with sanctioned services like #TornadoCash Create one specifically for that.
🔹 Sharing your address or ENS name on Twitter can be risky if you mind privacy. Someone just listed it for sale 235 mil. emails tied to Twitter accounts. Combining that with other hacks and connecting email to the physical address doesn’t seem difficult.
